We are delighted to inform you that the Gateshead School Sport Partnership (GSSP) are once again delivering the following national award courses:
The Level 5 Certificate and Level 6 Award courses are national, bespoke primary school physical education qualifications designed for primary school teachers and developed by the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and Sports Leaders UK.
The first session is due to take place as follows:
Date: Wednesday 14 September 2016
Time: 9am – 4pm
Venue: Dryden Centre
For candidates to gain these national qualification(s) attendance on the following is compulsory:
- All tutor guided learning hour modules identified on the attached application form.
- Completion of the necessary independent learning hours.

On successful completion of the course(s) candidates will receive the national Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism and/or Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership. These qualifications are a very effective use of your physical education and school sport premium funding.
Upskilling primary school teachers and teaching assistants through these qualifications will provide a positive impact on children and young people.
This will help to ensure a sustainable legacy from this additional funding.
The Level 5 and 6 national primary school physical education qualifications are a fantastic opportunity to increase pedagogical knowledge, skills and understanding as well as gaining a relevant and recognised national qualification(s).
