Did you know that you could sew a circuit?

Artist Teresa Almeida will be at the Shipley Art Gallery  to show you how. You will get the opportunity to find out more about her work and what e-textiles are, before getting to experiment yourself.

E-textiles are the use of sewable circuits, LEDs and sound in textiles and can become a new and creative method for teaching about circuits and electronics.

Each teachers will have a go at sewing their own circuit with LEDs and will get plenty of guidence on how they can transfer these skills to the classroom.

This cross curricular session is perfect for KS2, KS3 and KS4 teachers.

Discover the range of textiles within our collection before moving to our workshop to produce your own Shipley Art Gallery inspired fabric cuff or bracelet.

It isn’t any normal bracelet or cuff; it lights up!

Children will find out about how electrical circuits work and what we need to make them work, before sewing their own circuit into their fabric accessory.

It’s a great session if you are celebrating National Science and Engineering Week.
